Acting co-Executive Producer, Al Jazeera International
Based in Washington, DC, I manage one of the most inclusive shows on television, "The Stream." We treat our global community as members of our editorial board, letting their interests shape our coverage. A winding road got me here. I grew up on the coast of Maine and left as soon as I could. Dipped my toe first in Nicaragua, then followed Fidel Castro in Cuba. Cambodia is where I held my first real reporting gig, covering human trafficking, labor unrest and those aching for a better life. It's also where I fell in love and eloped with a political activist. We made a new life in Hong Kong, then chased the "American Dream" in Washington, DC. If an amicable divorce and lasting friendship are what Americans dream of, we did it! Life is good. I'm nourished by a diverse community of filmmakers and funny people who make DC real and push me to be my better self. Lord knows I need both. We all do. Marketplace, Asia Calling, NPR, The Cambodia Daily, The Washington Post, VOA and others have featured my work. |
